Yes,  I am showing off my painting skills...
No it's not two greens...one is wet one is dry..

Blogging sometimes seems as though I am talking to myself.  I would love to hear from you or feel free to come follow me with the side link!!
Today I finished painting and doing last minute touch ups to my studio.  A little over a week ago I wrote about the slow progression of my space and low and behold the next day I went up to Starline to see busy guys working on my studio.  This was an awesome surprise.  My bathroom is just about complete and should be finished by Monday or Tuesday.  Then a little bit of floor cleaning and I should be able to move in.  Yeah!!!
My bead shop is closed from this point on until I am moved in.  But if anyone wants to shop for last minute jewelry purchases please just give me a call at 815-276-3399. We can set up a time to meet  at Starline.
I will keep you updated with the move...until then...Cheers...

I think the green and taupe

I am sorry I haven't updated my blog lately.  To be frank with you I have been a little discouraged with the progress of my new studio space and so have been slow to update with no new news.  I have been painting and caulking little open cracks so tomorrow I hope to paint more. I will bring my camera with me and snap a few photos to let you see the progress.  I was again hoping I would be in my space by December 15 but it's not looking to good.  I think God is try to teach me patience and perseverance.
But in the mean time my little websites are ticking away!!
A side note, this week I lost a sweet uncle, my Fathers brother Paul.  May he rest in peace and I pray he experiences the peace that passes all understanding up in heaven.  Rest in peace uncle Paul!!

Paul is the second from the left.  These are the Sheetz boys with Grandma Mamie from back in the day.  My Dad is the second from the left with the mustache.

I have been preparing for Christmas gift giving this year.  This Friday November 16th I am doing a show at 356 Old Sutton Rd.  in Barrington Hills Illinois.  The show is the Bizzarre Bazaar, a wacky name for a fun hostess named Melissa Wood.  Melissa is well know in the area as a successful artist recently having her work with Crate and Barrel.  Impressive indeed and now she is working on a book.

Local artisans will be showcasing their work for gift giving this season!! No made in China here, just handcrafted goodies made in the U.S.A. I will have my silver and gemstone jewelry readily available and then will be preparing for the following weekend show at the Starline Factory's Holiday Studio Artist Sale.  More to  come about that later.
Here are a trio of my little barn owls I designed from finesilver and sterling ready for sale at the Bizzarre Bazaar sale.  I hope to see some of you there...

My little hoot owls!!
These can be found on my website at Katherinesheetz.etsy.com!!
Also a little update about the move to my bigger studio at Starline.  The building of my studio has been slow which has delayed my move and thus delayed classes.  I am a few weeks away from being in my new work place and will update my class schedule as soon as I am settled in.

Monday, August 6, 2012

Good morning and thanks for popping by my Blog.  Last night was my first attempt to send out a postcard via email.  My pre grand opening will be happening August 9th from 11 to 5 at the Starline Art gallery at 300 Front St. Studio 205c this Thusday.  I also updated my class schedule and added two beginner classes so please feel free to check it out.  There is a button on the right. Signing up for classes is easy.  You can either call me or stop by the shop and we will get you on the schedule.  At my shop I will take charge cards, checks and cash. The classes are fun and anyone can attend beginner classes with  no skill level. So come on in and give it a try.  Looking forward to seeing old and new friends....

It's a new day and I am more excited than ever to get my shop opened. August 9th is my opening date.
My new shop hours will be Thursday and Friday 11 to 5 and  Saturday 10 to 5.  These are temporary hours until my new studio space opens.  I plan to be moving my current studio down the hall to a much larger space to accomidate beads, jewelry and classes.
In the mean time I  can't wait on construction so I am opening my doors.  I still have lots of beads to bring in and I will carry a nice line of sterling silver beads, chain and findings (clasps, jumprings, etc..)  I also will carry a line of gold filled findings and copper as well.  I am hunting for a good distributer to carry a nice line of sterling plated chains and such for us folks who are on a budget but still can't resist jewelry crafting.
My walls are up in my new space so I will shoot you a picture.
So don't forget Thursday August 9th from 10 to 5 is my opening day!! Yeah!!!!
I now am taking charge cards as well and accepting checks and of course the most preferred cash.  (I hate giving big business banks the % for the rich to get richer)
So mark your calender and come to 300 Front Street, Studio 205C Harvard Illinois to be the first to get the best pickings in beads.
Can't wait to see you then....

Good morning friends!! I am up with the sun this lovely day!  I was at my new studio space the other evening and took some photos. My new bigger and better studio space is in it's beginning stages of completion.  Here are some pictures.  This is twice the size of my current studio which will make a great retail space.  I will continue weekly updates with photos and Starline updates.  (For those of you who are new to what Starline is, It's a old farm implement factory from the 1800's refurbished into artist studio's,  an Art gallery and teaching center located in Harvard Illinois)
Very Industrial!!

I love the brick wall and the huge beams.

A window view hoping to bring in lots of light.

More beamage!!
So here I go jumping in a little deeper antisipated what God will bring!!!

Me in my back yard!!
Now you can understand why
I plan on opening my new shop Wednesday - Saturday.
I will be mowing and pulling weeds on my days off..
Hi Everyone!!

I haven't put any new post up lately because I am making one more change to my Studio at Starline.
I am moving into a bigger space and will be opening my bead shop, selling my jewelry and will be incorporating my antiques. I have not decided on a  name so any suggestions would be helpful.  My husband came up with the name Katherine's Beads, Vintage and Baubles.  I am not so sure about that one.  I like Katherine's Bead Loft and Vintage finds.  It's kind of long though.  They are working on my new studio as I type and it will be double in size.  Yeah!!! Lots of room for beads, jewelry, antiques and more.  I will have regular store hours Wednesday through Saturday 10 to 5 and will also be willing to open to appointment for those of you who can't make it out on that schedule. I will continue to sell my beads jewelry and antiques online too.  I will be moving out of the Country Church in Crystal Lake soon.  But lets keep that to ourselves until I give Teresa ( the antique shop owner) notice. I also hope to keep my classes going but I need someone to sign up for them first.  So keep coming back for future updates and my grand opening date.

My current antique booth at
The Country Church in Ridgefield, Crystal Lake
Also I hope to see you at Mays 4th Friday at Starlines Art Gallery.  It's 6 to 9 and $5.00 at the door..
More goodies at the Country Church...
Oh my booths Name is My Mothers Daughter.  My Mom is in it with me...
She's the antique expert and I am her student..

Last night at Starline Art Gallery was tons of fun.  Almost everyone there was dressed in either all black or all white.  Thank you everyone who stopped by my studio.  I got a lot of ooo's and ahh's towards my jewelry designs.  I appreciate that and it was a great confidence booster.

I just published  my new class schedule. I will  keep you posted with class attendence  and other updates.  To the right you will see my class schedule tab.  Just click that and please feel free to comment at the bottom for any suggestions.

Here are some newer pictures of the studio.  I still have lots of work to do but it's coming along.  I had a little time blip in February because I got socked with the flu.  Getting back to work and  in an exercise routine has been tough but my daughter Ellie dragged me out for a 3 mile jog today.
Don't forget to check out my class schedule...Talk to you all soon...

Color makes a difference!

this orange thing to get
me where I needed to be..
Yes, my walls are white....

My little studio is making progress.  Here are some recent picture I would like to share with you.  I hope to be moving in next week so I can open for the 4th friday night opening at Starline Art Gallery in February.

Also I need to make a correction about Januarys 4th friday night gallery opening.  I said earlier over 200 people came.  Well my numbers were off.  Over 450 people came to Starline in January.  That's a record number.  Go Starline Art Gallery...
See the exposed wood work.  I love the
old beam.  All the metal will be painted
rusty red...

An artists studio...
Good morning! Starline Art Gallery had a fabulous 2012 art opening this last Friday night.  At least 200 hundred people walked through the door.  I took some photos and thought I would share them with you.

Starline in an old farm factory turned into an art gallery and has studio space for artists.  The fourth Friday of every month there is an art opening from 6 to 9.  It's $5 at the door and you will get an oportunity to see local art and enjoy wine and horduorves.

Starline Art Gallery had a nice crowd this weekend.
They had live music, horduorves, and wine  for all....

My Studio is down this hall...
