Hi Everyone, long time no talk to.  I just want a give a shout out to a few Art Fests I am doing this summer.  I will be selling my jewels and bumping shoulders with other artists at White fish Bay Art Fest in White fish Wisconsin, July 13 and 14. It should be a fun weekend. If you decide to come up for a visit stop by my booth. The second show I am doing is Deer Park Art Show September 7 and 8. That one is a little closer to home.  I hope to see some of you at either show.

Hi Friends,
My little shop has morphed once again and now I am doing business online and doing periodic art shows and flee markets. I am still doing jewelry and selling my antiques on Etsy.
Last January my daughter Ellie had a baby, so once again I am a Grandma.  Now I have 3 little grandsons. Making the decision to close the Throop St. shop was primarily to free up my time to spend more time with these little buggers.  Katherine's Vintage Market was lots of fun but used up all my weekends which I am now devoting to family.  I will miss all of my wonderful customers but now  I am at the season in life where I am putting these little ones first. Thank you for that wonderful year and your support.

I recently did a craft show at the Woodstock country club and plan on filling up 2019 schedule soon.  Please keep an eye on my blog for show dates.

I want to wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas and Great New Year in 2019!!!

Things at Katherine's Vintage Market have gotten off to a good start.  Soon I will be expanding to the back of my shop and taking on a new vender with her vintage wares and fresh style. Donna Rost designs and sells vintage up cycled jewelry and I can't wait to bring her on board.  Donna has a style all of her own and will be an excellent compliment to my Market.

Wrought iron twin beds are now $80.00 a frame..
A sturdy antique double bed frame on sale at $275.00
This week at the shop I will be working on moving out my antique white iron beds frames.  I have two twins and one full size bed frame in need of new homes. Do you have any friends looking to do some remodeling with the vintage shabby chic style?  Send them my way.
They will be priced to go!!
Sturdy little single bed frame now $80.00

Hi Friends.
My little shop in Woodstock is open for business.  I have decided to name it Katherine's Vintage Market..(Antiques-Jewelry-handmade-repurposed).  I am excited about this new little venture and hope you will pop in for a visit.  My shop hours are Thursday, Friday Saturday 10:00 to 5:00. After I closed the bead shop in Woodstock I began selling antiques on Etsy under the name Thevintagewife.etsy.com.  I have now changed that name to Katesvintagemarket.etsy.com.  My site on Etsy has blossomed and I still sell my jewelry at katherinesheetz.etsy.com too.  So now I am working the bricks and mortar and online at the same time. These days you have to do both.  I have had lots of inquiries about selling beads and doing classes.  I do have some beads out and hope to eventually incorporate the rest until they are liquidated.  My class schedule is on hold for now and it yet to be determined if there is a demand for them. Here are a few pictures of the new space.  If you are in the area just stop by and say hi.  I really miss all of my old customers and would love to catch up. You can also follow me on facebook @ Katherinesvintagemarket.

2016 breathes new life into my little world. Last year brought our family through the ringer but now it's time to pick up the pieces and begin again.
So many people have asked what are your plans since the passing of your husband.
Well, I can only see myself diving in head first to the one thing I love doing the most and that's designing jewelry. So I have applied to 3 larger art shows this year and  have officially been accepted.
Do I hear a Yeah God...

The line up is...
Gold coast Art Fair at Grant park in Chicago June 18th and 19th.
Art at the Glen in Glenview Illinois August 6th and 7th.
Deer Park Art show in Deer Park Illinois September 10th and 11th.

You can only guess what I have been doing since these events are just around the corner.  Yes, I have been making jewelry..I have been stretching my wings adding new designs to my collection.
My work place is still at the Starline Factory in Harvard.  Recently my studio has been moved upstairs to a wonderfully larger space with great light.

The other question people have been asking me is am I  going to be teaching jewelry classes again.
As of now I am undecided because of family commitments..ie..my grandson and visiting my daughter and her husband in Kentucky.
But I so miss hanging with like minded designers and jewelry novices. Teaching has always added to my life by bringing so many interesting and fun people my way.

I also get asked if my studio is open to the public with shopping hours.  As of now I open to appointment.  I do have a showroom in my studio and my hope is to open a few days a week with regular hours but no official date has been set.

I would love to hear your feedback and ideas.  I hope to open my studio in July and do a large close out of many of my beads, finding and tools.  I will keep you updated with the time and date.

For some of my latest jewelry designs checkout my website at Katherinesheetz.etsy.com.

I will be posting again soon...I promise it won't be a year from now...
Warm regards...

November is already here.  The days fly by and sometimes I wonder were they have gone.  I have been busy preparing for the Bizarre Bazaar November 20th at Wool St Grill in Barrington.  We should have a good crowd and hope many of you can make it.  It is from 6 to 10 so bring your friends and come and have a blast!!

Friday, October 10, 2014

Good morning friends.  The sun is shining and it's a beautiful day.  I am relishing in each fall day before you know what comes, winter!  Let me fill you in with what I have been up to.  I had a very successful art show in Evanston.  A few friends made their way to Evanston to visit.  Thanks so much Melissa and Joyce!! Also set up a few booths down from me was Linda Wallis.  We grew up in the same town and I hung out with her sissy as a kid.   I thought that was fun.  I had a great reception with my jewelry.  Women enjoyed the delicacy of it and that was very encouraging. My next show is at Starline Art Gallery in my studio.  I will be having a wonderful artist joining me.  Another home town girl, Laura Gerard.  She will be bringing her handcrafted scarves and will be set up in my studio along side me.  So mark your calendars for October 24th, Starline galleries 4th Friday event.  It goes from 6 to 10 this month.  It will be Starlines last event of the year so it will be grand.  The address is 400 front St. Harvard, Il. 60033.
Wyatt is getting so big!
So a few other things I have been up to is watching my grandson Wyatt which is pure joy.
Recently I have been working with 22 k gold.  This is a new venture for me since I am pretty committed to working with fine silver and sterling.  A friend of mine recently called me a purist.  I thought that was pretty funny!!
This delicate piece can be found on katherinesheetz.etsy.com

Shop updates and classes

I have some personal news about the shop.  We have had a long winter and my first year anniversary is coming up. Business has been sluggish and I realize as a new shop it can take a while to get re-established.  But one year has come and almost gone and unfortunately we have not turned a profit so I have made a decision to close my doors once again June 1st.  As sad as this is to me and my customers I am trying to stay positive and look at this as another stepping stone on my journey.  I will re-establish myself at Starline Factory in Harvard with a studio space to design jewelry and teach classes.
I realize Harvard is a bit of a hike for some of you but I hope you will make the journey.  Starline is a fabulous space and the atmoshpere is inspiring to say the least.
To encourage some of you to come I hope to establish what I am going to call play days.  I will teach simple classes for free with the exception of materials.  My hope is to establish a schedule every other week and possibly more depending on the interest.  Some of these classes will just be a gathering of beaders and jewelry makers alike to gather and share their passion together.  Starline is the perfect place for this because if we outgrow the studio we can use other parts of the building. So my plan is to keep you all informed with my blog and send out emails with a monthly schedule.  If you and your friends want to join a play day just text, call or email me and we will pop you on the schedule.  These classes will have 3 to 4 hour time limits with a minimum of  three people.  I think this will give us plenty of time to be leisure in our work with no time stresses.  Sounds fun huh!!
I will also offer classes for a fee that will be more advanced if there is an interest.  Classes such as wire fusing, stack ring making, pmc workshops and if other teachers are willing to make the trip possibly more advanced metal smithing classes and such.  But we will cross that road when I move. People have been asking me if I will still be selling beads.  I will still have my website with beads for sale @
www. katherinesbeads.etsy.com and what ever I have available I will be willing to sell.  So yes, I will still sell beads, findings and jewelry making materials but I will be some what limited to space.  These beads will be available on play days, class days, Fourth Fridays (4th fridays is a monthly art gallery-show established by Nancy Merkling which is the 4th friday of every month from 6 pm to 10ish) or  by appointment.
Learn more about Nancy Merkling and 4th Fridays at www.nancymerkling.com.
So with all of this said I am going to post a few lovely pictures I have taken through the few years I was at starline.  Many of you have never been to the building and have no clue what it is.  Starline is a beautiful old factory that has been rehabbed into an art gallery and art studios.  Artists rent studio spaces to work on their medium.  Each studio is a private space for them to use as often as they wish.  They are kind of like loft style studio apartments. I hope these pictures will inspire you to come for a visit..
Thanks for your time and reading this lengthy blog post. So as I am winding down in Woodstock I will continue to have sales and continue with classes.  So keep your eyes peeled for emails.  Talk to you soon...katherine

We are well into February and the weather is awful.  Businesses are suffering and no one wants to venture out.  But I say don't let the winter hold you back.  This is one of the most important times to get together and have community otherwise we begin feeling depressed, sluggish and unmotivated.
We have our class schedule up and it's time to hear from some of you.  We are  ready to craft our jewelry and teach to all.
Here is a new pair of earrings I designed with sterling silver wire and a jig. I then wired  Japanese seed beads to the frame.  They were labor intensive but fun and I was so pleased with the results.

We would love to hear from you.  We are now offering day time enameling classes with our new instructor Patricia Eagle.  Check out the class schedule on the right. Feel free to visit Patricia's web site at www.patricialynndesigns.com

Make it a great day!!!
